SCALE
The AI Excellence Assessment Tool
The SCALE Assessment Tool is the Global Center for AI Excellence’s flagship instrument for benchmarking organisational AI maturity. Built on the Global AI Excellence Model (GAIEM), it enables leaders to move beyond fragmented metrics and isolated use cases toward a single, strategic view of AI performance. By assessing the rigour of approaches, the consistency of execution, the pace of improvement, and the impact of results, SCALE helps organisations pinpoint where to invest, where to accelerate, and how to lead. Recognised globally, it provides boards and CXOs with a credible, evidence-based basis for decision-making, linking AI ambition to measurable enterprise value and positioning organisations to earn global distinction.
SCALE
Leading organisations treat AI not as a collection of projects or algorithms, but as an integrated system. SCALE provides a structured, comprehensive, and methodical methodology for assessing how AI is designed, deployed, improved, and delivering value as a system.
Sound Approach
AI approaches are explicitly defined, rigorous, integrated, and future-fit.
Consistent Execution
AI practices are deployed systematically across the organisation with discipline, accountability, and integration.
Adaptive Improvement
AI practices evolve continuously through structured review, feedback loops, and innovation.
Lasting Value
AI outcomes demonstrate relevance, achievement, and durability, creating both enterprise and societal value.
Evidence of Impact
Results are benchmarked, validated, and recognised externally, positioning the organisation as a leader.
What SCALE Measures
SCALE operationalizes the Global AI Excellence Model (GAIEM), assessing maturity across four pillars, Leadership & Governance, Execution Excellence, Enablers, and Results & Value Creation, using five levels of performance; Initial, Developing, Established, Advanced and Leading.
It evaluates your organisation across five dimensions:
Sound Approach
Rigour and design quality of AI strategies and operating models, aligned with global standards (EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001).
Consistent Execution
Discipline and breadth of deployment, with embedded roles, governance, and accountability across the enterprise.
Adaptive Improvement
Velocity and quality of learning loops, innovation adoption, and cross-enterprise knowledge transfer.
Lasting Value
Measurable business impact, resilience, and contribution to ESG and stakeholder priorities.
Evidence of Impact
Relative positioning vs. peers and global leaders, external recognition, and reputational standing.
